Having been at the coalface of customer service, KiwiHost customer service trainer Kim understands first hand the unique challenges facing frontline staff.
An experienced trainer at both corporate and government level, Kim wears multiple hats at the Otago Chamber of Commerce where she is also responsible for up-skilling clients in information technology and business start-ups.
“I do wear multiple hats, but I particularly enjoy the customer service training because when I first joined the workforce it was on the frontline, and I know it is hard work.”
In addition to having the frontline experience required to relate to the people she is up-skilling, Kim is passionate about equipping people with the right tools to give good customer service and to inspire them with a attitude, motivation and willingness to serve.
“A willingness to please is part of my personality and I like imparting that to others. As New Zealanders we’re told that we are very friendly, but now we just need to raise the bar through KiwiHost and to professionalise it – to strive for perfection.”
Kim says she gets a buzz from the variety, meeting different people and imparting knowledge and inspiration in such a way that she sees ‘a light go on somebody’s eyes’ when they understand the principles she is teaching.
Outside of work Kim has done a lot of snorkelling and has recently discovered scuba diving – in the cold Otago waters as well as off the warmer Fiji and Oman coasts. She has a daughter she loves spending time with, and always finds good reasons to enjoy good food, wine and friends.
